Assistant Chief Rob Stafford

Rob Stafford has worked in the Fire/EMS industry for the last 20 years.  He was hired by the SLCFD in 2005 and has worked as a firefighter EMT, firefighter paramedic, Captain, and Operations Battalion Chief prior to being promoted to Assistant Chief.  Rob additionally spent two years as the Training Captain for the SLCFD, which included training firefighters from numerous agencies in the Salt Lake Valley.

Rob has been heavily involved in committee work, event planning, program development, public relations and education, and firefighter health and wellness, including roles as a Peer Support member and Certified Wellness Coordinator.  He has been a part of several training cadres with the Utah Fire and Rescue Academy, UVU’s Recruit Candidate Academy, and the annual Winter Fire School. 

As the Assistant Chief of Community Risk Reduction, Chief Stafford oversees the Fire Prevention Bureau, Community Relations Division, Emergency Management Division, and Technology Division.  He has a passion for the fire service and believes the SLCFD has a responsibility to educate its citizens in fire safety and preparedness, collaborate with local businesses and communities, and make our city more resilient. 

Rob is originally from Texas but has lived in Utah for over 25 years.  He holds a Bachelor of Science from Texas A&M University and a Master’s Degree in Management and Leadership from Western Governors University.
