Assistant Chief Mike Fox

Michael Fox has worked for SLC FD for the last 25 years. He was hired in 1998 and has served as a firefighter, firefighter paramedic, Captain, Division Chief over the Medical Division, and Operations Battalion Chief before being promoted to Assistant Chief. Prior to his current assignment, Michael served as the Assistant Chief over Operations.

Michael has been involved in the implementation of several programs in the department, including Peer Support and the Officer Development program. He was a founding member of the Heavy Rescue team where he served as a Firefighter and Captain. Michael has also been a member of Utah Task Force 1, one of 28 FEMA Urban Search and Rescue Teams in the United States. As a member of this team, he had multiple deployments, including New York for 9/11 and Hurricane Katrina.

As the Assistant Chief of Support, Chief Fox oversees the Medical Division, Logistics Division, and Training Division. Each of these divisions is run by a Division Chief and provides critical support to the members of the SLC FD and the community.

Michael has lived in Utah most of his life. He served in the United States Navy and holds a Bachelor of Arts in History from the University of Utah and a Master of Science in Organizational Leadership from Columbia Southern University.
