Early morning blaze sends one to the University of Utah hospital

INCIDENT TYPE: Residential Fire

LOCATION: 402 N. Center St. (180 W.)

Early Friday morning, at 1 a.m., Salt Lake City Fire Department responded to a two-alarm fire at 402 N. Center St. (120 West).

One individual escaped the blaze in the two-story residence, and was transported to University of Utah Medical Center. The victim’s injuries were last reported as being serious, but not life-threatening.

The cause and origin of the fire is still under investigation, as is the estimated cost of damages to the property.

The intense blaze took more than an hour to extinguish, and a crew will likely be on scene for several hours to watch the structure.
