Two homes catch flame near University of Utah

INCIDENT TYPE: Residential Fire

LOCATION: 1053 and 1051 Fuller Ave. (between 400 and 500 S)

Just after 8 p.m., Monday, July 3, the Salt Lake City Fire Department responded to a three-alarm fire that affected two residences.

The fire is under investigation. Fire Department investigators determined that the home at 1051 E. Fuller Ave, is a total loss; the home located at 1053 E. Fuller Ave. had significant damage, and the cost of that damage is still being evaluated.

An older couple was evacuated from one home; and a man, estimated to be in his twenties, with a dog, was evacuated from the other home. No one was injured.

About 45 Salt Lake City Firefighters contained the fire, and successfully kept it from spreading to a third home, which was also being threatened by the flame.

Crews will remain on-site for fire watch for several hours to ensure that the scene is safe.
